Pictures
of hotels and bridges in London
I work as a photographer
and as part of my work I have to travel to different countries
taking pictures of architecture. I was offered by my company
the chance to travel to London to take pictures of bridges and
hotels in this major city. I travelled from Australia and had
to change flights at Frankfurt, as my connecting flight did not
leave until the following morning I booked in to a wellness
hotel called Hotel Feldberg
Mecklenburg. The hotel was
very pleasant and I enjoyed the relaxation of a spar during
my overnight stay. The next day I travelled on to
London.
There are many hotels in London and although I took pictures of
many hotels, my best takes were of the following; The Knights
Bridge Hotel – looked every part the traditional British Hotel
with its grand pillars at either side of the door way, and its
grand exterior, sporting the Union Jack. I felt this is what a
tourist from abroad expects when visiting the United Kingdom.
The next hotel after the Wellnesshotel
Feldberg was the Covent Garden
Hotel; although from the same chain of hotels as The Knights
Bridge Hotel, completely different to look at, it looked
more like a small quirky pub that you would find in the
quieter part of London, but from my point of view, as a
photographer it showed the contrast between different
aspects of London. The inside of the hotel had a very homely
feel to it.
I wanted to take some photo’s of Tower Bridge and was told the
Hilton Tower Bridge Hotel was the ideal place to stay to get
good views of the hotel lit up at night, I got the picture I
wanted of the bridge lit up night. I also wanted to get a
picture of the bridge during the day, I had picked a day when I
knew that the bridges in the centre lift to let tall ships and
navel vessels pass through. I also wanted to get a photo of a
view from the bridge, as I knew that the high level walkways
allowed for fantastic views of Canary Wharf, St Paul’s
Cathedral and the London Eye.
After taking these photo’s I moved on to my final destination
The Hilton on Park Lane, the location speaks for itself,
although the exterior is not quite what I imagined, the inside
lived up to the expectation of the location.
